Breast augmentation with implants

About the treatment
Breast Augmentation with Implants – When Shape, Volume and Proportion Find Their Balance
The shape and size of the breasts play an important role in the overall proportions of the body and in how a woman experiences her own figure. Some women naturally have a smaller breast volume or asymmetry, while others lose fullness over time following pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or as part of the natural ageing process. Others simply wish for a fuller bust.
At AGATA, breast augmentation is not about creating the greatest possible volume. The aim is to create a bust that suits your body, your chest and your natural proportions, so that the result appears feminine, harmonious and well balanced.
The Consultation – The Most Important Decisions Are Made Before Surgery
During the consultation, we assess the shape and volume of the breasts, the width of the chest, skin quality, any asymmetry, and the firmness of the breast tissue.
Together, we then consider the size and shape of the implant, where it should be positioned, and whether a breast lift or fat transfer may be beneficial as an additional procedure.
The aim is to create balance between shape, volume and proportion – not to choose an implant based on size alone.
Choosing the Implant
The right implant should suit your anatomy. Implants that are too large or too heavy may place unnecessary strain on the tissues over time, whereas a well-chosen implant should support the natural shape of the breast and create a smooth transition to the chest wall.
Both round and anatomical implants are available, with different degrees of firmness.
At AGATA, we primarily use implants from Mentor and Polytech B-Lite, selected on the basis of quality, clinical experience and the possibility of individual tailoring.
B-Lite implants are approximately 30% lighter than traditional implants and may be particularly suitable when greater volume is desired with less weight placed on the breast tissue.
How is the Procedure Performed?
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and, for a straightforward breast augmentation, typically takes around 1 hour. If a breast lift or another correction is performed at the same time, the procedure usually takes 2–3 hours.
The incision is most often placed discreetly in the natural fold beneath the breast. In selected cases, the implant may be inserted through an incision at the edge of the areola or through the armpit. The choice depends on the anatomy of the breast and whether any additional correction is required.
The implant may be positioned beneath the chest muscle, partly beneath the muscle using a dual plane technique, or in front of the muscle beneath the breast tissue.
The placement is chosen individually according to the amount of natural breast tissue, the thickness of the skin and the desired result.
Recovery
After surgery, the breasts will usually feel tight, with pressure and tenderness, particularly during the first few days. You will be fitted with a supportive bra after the operation and will stay overnight in the hospital for observation.
The supportive bra is worn day and night during the initial healing period and thereafter according to the plan agreed with your surgeon. In some cases, a breast band may also be used to help support the position of the implants while healing takes place.
Swelling and tightness gradually subside. At first, the breasts may sit slightly higher and feel firmer, but over the following months they soften and gradually settle into a more natural shape.
Are There Risks?
All surgical procedures involve some degree of risk. Following breast augmentation, possible complications include swelling, pain, bleeding, infection, altered sensation around the nipple, asymmetry or the development of capsular contracture around the implant.
Breast implants are also not necessarily lifelong devices. At some point, they may need to be replaced because of capsular contracture, leakage, or a wish to change the size, shape or position.
During the consultation, we also discuss the less common implant-related complications and the importance of long-term follow-up.
What Can You Expect from the Result?
The aim is not simply to create larger breasts. The aim is a bust that fits naturally with the rest of the body, with a harmonious transition, appropriate fullness and a shape that complements your figure.
The appearance of the breasts will continue to change over time as a result of ageing, pregnancy, changes in weight and the natural elasticity of the skin.
A beautiful result therefore begins with finding the right balance – between the size of the implant, your own breast tissue and the proportions of your body.
“The most beautiful result is not about achieving the greatest possible volume, but the volume that suits you naturally.”
