Forehead Lift – Restoring Lightness to the Eyes

The upper face plays an important role in how our expression is perceived. As the brows gradually descend with age, the eye area may appear heavier, and the face can take on a more tired or serious expression that does not necessarily reflect how you feel.

At AGATA, a forehead lift is not about lifting the brows too high. The aim is to restore the natural balance between the forehead, brows and eye area, so that the eyes appear lighter, more open and harmonious.

For some patients, a forehead lift is sufficient on its own. For others, it may be combined with upper eyelid surgery or a facelift so that the upper face is treated as a harmonious whole.

How is the procedure performed?

The technique is tailored individually according to facial proportions, brow position, forehead height and the hairline.

With an endoscopic forehead lift, the procedure is performed through small incisions behind the hairline. The tissues are released in a deeper plane close to the bone, and the brows are repositioned into a natural and harmonious position.

This technique is particularly suitable for patients with a short distance between the eyebrows and the hairline, where the aim is to lift the brows without further shortening the forehead.

For patients with a high forehead, a hairline-based forehead lift is often more suitable. The incision is placed in or immediately along the hairline, allowing the brows to be lifted while the height of the forehead can also be reduced. This technique is particularly relevant when lowered brows are combined with a long distance between the brows and the hairline.

Other techniques are also available and are used more selectively. The choice always depends on the individual anatomy, hairline and desired result.

Recovery

After surgery, there may be some swelling and mild bruising around the forehead and eyes, as well as a feeling of tightness. Temporary changes in sensation can also occur.

Most patients feel socially presentable again after approximately 1–2 weeks, while the tissues continue to settle over the following months.

Are there risks?

All surgical procedures involve some degree of risk, but the great majority of patients have an uncomplicated recovery.

Swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary changes in sensation may occur during the early healing period. The scars gradually mature and usually become more discreet with time. During the consultation, we assess the position of the brows, forehead height and hairline so that the technique can be tailored as precisely as possible.

What can you expect from the result?

The aim is not to create a surprised or unnaturally lifted expression. A well-planned forehead lift can create a more open eye area, a lighter expression and better balance between the forehead and brows, while preserving natural facial movement.
