Face
Dimples
A small procedure that can give your smile more character
About the treatment
Dimples can give the face a more distinctive and lively expression. Some people naturally have dimples, while others would like to create a more defined indentation in the cheek when smiling.
During the consultation, the shape of the cheek, the position of the smile line, and the desired location and depth of the dimple are assessed. The aim is to create a natural result that suits the proportions of the face.
How is the procedure performed?
Dimples are usually created through a small procedure from the inside of the cheek.
A small connection is created between the inner cheek tissue and the skin, forming an indentation when you smile. This means there is normally no visible scar on the outside of the cheek.
The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia.
After the procedure
There may be some swelling, tenderness, and tightness in the cheek during the first few days.
At first, the dimple may also be visible at rest. As the tissue heals, the indentation usually becomes more natural and is mainly visible when smiling.
You will receive guidance on oral hygiene, diet, and aftercare.
Risks
As with all surgery, complications may occur, including infection, bleeding, asymmetry, or changes in sensation.
The depth and visibility of the dimple are influenced by individual healing and tissue maturation. In some cases, a minor later adjustment may be appropriate to optimise balance and definition.
The Result
The aim is a natural-looking dimple that enhances the smile without dominating the face.
