About the treatment

Body Contouring – When the Body’s Natural Proportions Are Shaped with Balance and Precision

The contours of the body are influenced not only by weight, but also by fat distribution, skin elasticity, the shape of the hips, the proportions of the waist, and the volume of the buttocks. In some patients, localised fat deposits or natural indentations may create a body shape that feels less harmonious, even when body weight is stable.

Body contouring aims to improve the proportions of the body by reducing volume where there is excess and adding the patient’s own fat where greater fullness is needed.

At AGATA, the aim is not to create the greatest possible volume, but to work with the patient’s existing anatomy to create softer transitions, clearer proportions, and a more harmonious overall contour.

Liposuction and Fat Transfer – Two Parts of the Same Treatment

In body contouring, liposuction and fat transfer can be combined in the same procedure.

Liposuction is used to reduce localised fat deposits in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, lower back, hips or thighs. Liposuction is not a weight-loss treatment, but a method used to improve body contours and proportions.

The harvested fat can then be purified and used for fat transfer in areas where additional volume or a softer transition is desired.

In this way, the same procedure can both reduce and add volume, depending on what best supports the overall proportions of the body.

Hip Dips

Hip dips are natural indentations at the sides of the hips between the pelvis and the upper thigh. In some women they are subtle, while in others they are more pronounced because of bone structure and fat distribution.

When correcting hip dips, the patient’s own fat is used to fill the indentation and create a smoother transition between the waist, hip and thigh.

The fat is placed more laterally in the hip area to soften the contour and create a rounder hip curve.

The aim is not necessarily to make the hips larger, but to create a smoother and more harmonious curve.

Brazilian Butt Lift – BBL

In a Brazilian Butt Lift, the patient’s own fat is used to improve the shape and volume of the buttocks.

First, liposuction is performed on selected donor areas, often the abdomen, flanks, lower back, hips or thighs. The choice of donor areas is important for the overall result because the liposuction itself can help define the waist and improve the transition to the buttocks.

The fat is then purified and injected into the subcutaneous fatty tissue above the muscle, where it can be used to improve projection, shape and symmetry. For safety reasons, the fat is not placed deep within the gluteal muscle.

With BBL, the aim is not simply to create more volume. Often, it is the relationship between the waist, hips and buttocks that creates the greatest improvement in overall body proportions.

Combining BBL with Hip Dip Correction

BBL and hip dip correction can be combined when both the projection of the buttocks and the lateral contour of the hips are to be improved.

The fat is distributed individually between the buttocks and hips, so the treatment is based on the patient’s anatomy rather than on a fixed standard shape.

In some patients, a relatively modest amount of fat transfer combined with precise liposuction of the waist and flanks may be enough to create a noticeable improvement in proportions.

The Consultation

During the consultation, the patient’s body shape, fat distribution, skin quality and elasticity, as well as the shape, projection and symmetry of the buttocks and hips, are assessed.

The surgeon also evaluates which areas are suitable for liposuction and whether there is enough available fat for the desired treatment. Very slim patients with limited fat reserves are therefore not always suitable candidates for fat transfer.

The treatment plan is based on the proportions of the body as a whole – not only on the area where more or less volume is desired.

Recovery

After the procedure, swelling, bruising and tenderness should be expected both in the areas where liposuction has been performed and in the areas where fat has been transferred.

Compression garments are worn over the donor areas during the initial healing period. After fat transfer, unnecessary direct pressure on the treated areas should be avoided so that the transferred fat has the best possible conditions to establish itself.

The final shape develops gradually as the swelling subsides and the portion of transferred fat that survives becomes a natural part of the tissue.

What Can Be Expected from the Result?

The result depends on the patient’s starting point, the amount of available fat, skin elasticity and fat survival.

The aim is a more harmonious body contour, where areas of excess volume are reduced and areas requiring greater fullness are refined using the patient’s own tissue.
