Brow Lift – When a Few Millimetres Can Make a Big Difference
The position of the eyebrows has a significant influence on how the eye area is perceived. As the brow descends, particularly in the central area, a heavier skin fold may develop over the upper eyelid, making the eyes appear more tired or serious. In some cases, the field of vision may also be affected, and many people unconsciously compensate by constantly activating the forehead muscles.
A direct brow lift is designed to elevate the brow precisely where it is needed. The aim is not to create a dramatic or surprised appearance, but rather a lighter, more open and harmonious expression.
The procedure can be performed on its own or combined with upper eyelid surgery.
How is the procedure performed?
The incision is placed discreetly 1–2 mm within the eyebrow itself, allowing the scar to blend into the natural structure of the brow. A carefully measured strip of skin is removed, and the brow is repositioned to a more harmonious level.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, typically takes around one hour, and you can return home the same day.
Recovery
Mild swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary changes in sensation around the brow may occur.
Most patients can return to light work after a few days and feel socially presentable again after approximately 2 weeks. Sensation usually returns gradually over the following months.
Are there risks?
Complications are uncommon. Temporary changes in sensation around the scar are common, and in rare cases forehead movement may be temporarily affected. Local thinning of the eyebrow hair around the scar can also occur.
The scar gradually matures and usually becomes discreet over time.
What can you expect from the result?
The anatomical change is often relatively small, but it can make a noticeable difference to the entire eye area. The brow is restored to a more harmonious position, the skin fold above the eye is reduced, and the eyes may appear lighter and more open.
The effect is long-lasting, although it is naturally influenced by skin quality and the ongoing ageing process.
