A facelift restores the natural contours of the face and gives a fresher expression. With age, the skin loses elasticity; gravity and volume loss can lead to loose skin, deep folds and wrinkles.
At AGATA, facelifts are performed among other techniques as SMAS and deep plane lifts, tailored to your anatomy. The operation is typically carried out under general anaesthesia.
Add-ons such as a temple lift, corner-of-mouth lift, fat grafting, liposuction of the chin/neck, extended neck lift or eyelid surgery may be relevant in the individual treatment plan.
SMAS
SMAS Facelift
A method that lifts both the skin and the underlying SMAS layer (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System). The technique repositions and tightens the superficial layers without substantial manipulation of deeper tissue — giving a more lasting, natural improvement than a purely subcutaneous lift.
Variants
- High SMAS Lift — lifts the midface and cheeks for a natural, youthful expression
- Low SMAS Lift — focuses on the lower face and neck, tightening the jawline and reducing loose skin
Best suited for
Mild to moderate signs of ageing, younger patients, and patients with less heavy tissue or thinner skin with minimal volume loss. Ideal when the goal is a discreet improvement with preserved facial movement.

Deep Plane
Deep Plane Facelift
An advanced technique that, beyond tightening the skin, lifts the deeper facial structures — including the SMAS layer and underlying connective tissue — as a single unit. The result avoids a tight or “pulled” look.
The technique can improve loose skin in the cheeks and jawline, deep nasolabial folds, downturned mouth corners and loose neck skin in one continuous repositioning.
Best suited for
Moderate to more pronounced signs of ageing, and patients who want a more comprehensive yet still natural facial rejuvenation — especially with significant laxity or volume loss.
